Know your look
As a long time professional photographer, first and foremost, true beauty comes from within. It’s a confidence, an attitude, a positive emotion.
Outer beauty is natural beauty – not over made up, over tanned and fake looks.
You must learn what makes you beautiful. Natural big eyes, a nice defined jawline and cheek bones, healthy hair and the most important of all is clean, clear blemish-free natural smooth skin.
Great skin comes from basic routines like keeping your face out of the sun. I can easily spot sun damage on a woman’s face using software like Photoshop – even when she thinks she has nice, even skin.
This, combined with moisturizers and creams and the advice of a good dermatologist, will do wonders for any model starting out or any woman wanting to maintain a fresh appearance.

Your best hair
I have been in the industry of beauty for a little more than a decade. As a professional hair stylist in McLean, Va., I have learned some key things about what clients want out of a salon visit – great service. Remember this, “First impression is the last impression.”
One of your main focuses for 2012 should be bringing your hair back to LIFE. Hair is a very delicate fiber and it must be treated that way. Whatever you put in your hair will be the outcome. Healthy hair begins with the best choices. Here are some tips to promote healthy hair:

Make your hair new again. Depending on how much needs to be cut, cutting the hair in a style that fits you is a great way to start over. Trends are great, but are you willing to manage it? Keeping it simple is the new fashion forward. Trimming the ends after every chemical service is ideal to promote healthy tresses. Consider this a one-step-at-a-time process: Nothing changes overnight, but through consistency and determination you will see the fruits of your efforts.
Condition hair. It is essential to moisturize the ends of dry hair.
Add protein. It will add strength to weakened hair, but protein should be used in moderation. Its strengthening properties could cause breakage.
Keep heat to a minimum. Using less heat will make a difference in the hair’s performance. Add heat protectors to shield the ends from searing while using heat tools. Maintain your tresses by pin curling or rolling to avoid extreme heat styling.
Shampoo at least twice a week. The texture of hair and its need will determine the necessity.
Remember as I mentioned earlier: Nothing changes overnight, but through consistency and determination you will see the fruits of your efforts. Wait, see and believe.
Happy New Hair!

Your best skin
I believe most of us start off thinking that something’s not beautiful without all the bells and whistles. That is simply not the case. I believe that people are most beautiful when they start to realize that all they really need is confidence.

Maintaining healthy skin
It’s important for your skin to be healthy so you can put your best face forward. There are simple steps you can take to maintain healthy skin.
Moisturize the skin daily. During the summer, it helps to also use an SPF for the face.
Drink lots of water. By doing so, your skin retains the moisture it needs, while flushing away all those yucky impurities.
Every other week, treat your skin to a deep cleaning mask or a facial scrub. Your skin type will determine the one you use.

Perfect everyday makeup
What is the key to perfect everyday makeup? Is it a full face of makeup? It can be as simple as a change in your current beauty routine.

Here are a few quick tips for you to try!
Groom eyebrows with a clear brow gel. It’s the easiest and fastest way to tame unruly, shapeless brows. Eyebrow powders and pencils are great for those who have thin and shapeless eyebrows.
Consider using a foundation primer for a smooth, flawless foundation finish.
Touch up foundation as needed with a translucent pressed powder.
Skip the lip liner and lipstick. Try dabbing a tinted lip balm for something more natural and soft.
In lieu of eye shadow, simply line the eyes with a metallic bronze shade. Liners can shape, sculpt and emphasize in minutes.
